Former Mansfield, Mass. Man Added to FBI Most Wanted Terrorists

BOSTON (AP) - A man with ties to Massachusetts has been added to the FBI's list of most wanted terrorists.

Ahmad Abousamra, who formerly lived in Mansfield, was indicted in 2009 after taking multiple trips to Pakistan and Yemen, where federal prosecutors said he tried to get military training for the purpose of attacking U.S. soldiers overseas.

The FBI offered a $50,000 reward last year for information leading to the arrest of Abousamra, who authorities believe may be living in Aleppo, Syria. He has dual citizenship in the U.S. and Syria.

On Wednesday, the FBI's Boston office announced that Abousamra was added to the Most Wanted Terrorists List, which was created after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The FBI says Abousamra was an associate of Tarek Mehanna, a Sudbury man convicted in 2011 on four terrorism charges.
