Couple Accused of Killing Vt. Teacher Attempting to Move Trial

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - The Waterford couple accused of kidnapping and killing a Vermont teacher last year will try again to move their trial out of Caledonia County.

The Caledonian Record (http://bit.ly/1cz54E5 ) reports that Patricia and Allen Prue are scheduled to be Caledonia Superior Court on Jan. 10 to argue that publicity makes it impossible to get a fair trial in St. Johnsbury.

The Prues are charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 33-year-old Melissa Jenkins on March 25, 2012. Both have pleaded not guilty and will be tried separately. They're being held without bail and face life sentences if convicted.

Prosecutors say they lured Jenkins from her Danville home, strangled her and dumped her body in the Connecticut River.
