Delta Airlines Customers Boast About Cheap Flights

(NECN/NBC News: Kerry Sanders, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) – It was a Merry Christmas for some very lucky Delta Airlines customers who went online Thursday and got some incredible deals.

"I got New York to Puerto Rico for $77, round trip. It's really amazing," said one Delta customer, Jamie Freedman.

Jason Herbert snagged a roundtrip from New York to Las Vegas for $81.

"I was in complete shock. I was like ‘oh my god, wow.’ For me to get them for 81 bucks, I mean, phew, Merry Christmas to me," said Herbert.

It took just minutes for folks to boast on Twitter, which is when the real rush began.

Keeley Wood: "Christmas miracle alert: just bought a round trip ticket from Charlotte to LA for $46, thanks."

Elizabeth Debold: "Me too! Raleigh to Philly for $35! I spoke with a rep on the phone and she said if you purchase them, they'll honor the prices."

Amy Chi saw first class tickets from Indianapolis to Honolulu for $88. She wrote:  "I feel like I won the lottery / committed grand larceny!"

Just three months ago, a similar glitch occurred in the United Airlines website. United honored every ticket and Delta says they will do the same.

Delta will not comment on how many tickets they sold.

They say the glitch was a costly, unplanned mistake, and in no way a marketing effort.
