Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman Serving as Spokeswoman Against Eating Disorders

(NECN) – Olympian Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass., joined NECN to discuss her new involvement in eating disorder awareness

“I hope that I can inspire men and women of all ages just to feel confident and to look in the mirror and be happy with the person that you see,” Raisman began.

This comes as Raisman has a new partnership with Walden Behavioral Care, a Waltham, Mass. based psychiatric hospital that treats eating disorders.

“For me, I try to start off every morning- instead of picking my body apart in the morning, I try to pick out things I like about myself and I’ve found that when I feel more confident, I feel so much happier, and you’re able to enjoy the little things in life,” Raisman explained.

With her training schedule, she was not able to go to Sochi, but Raisman says she is “100% excited” to watch this year’s 2014 winter games from home.

“The skating is on tonight so I can’t wait,” she said. “I love watching hockey and ice skating. Those are my two favorites, but I’ll be watching everything.”

In addition, Raisman commented on the safety concerns people have for this year’s Olympics.

Raisman helped Team USA gymnastics team win Gold at the Summer 2012 Olympics.
