(NECN) - As families gather around the table for Thanksgiving dinner, there may be some faux-pas that cause tension among guests.

Don't be the one to slip up with those elbows on the table and cell phone beeping with text alerts!

Marianne Cohen from Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting in Marblehead, Mass. stopped by "The Morning Show" to share some simple reminders of proper Thanksgiving etiquette, for guests and hosts alike.

She broke down the following topics:

    For Guests:

    - Timing- Don't be late
    - What to Bring
    - How to dress
    - Cleaning up

    For Hosts

    - Assigning tasks to people who aren't your kids/spouse
    - Catering to special diet/food needs
    - Having enough food and code for running low: FHB family hold back
    - General manners
    - TV: On or off during dinner?
    - Cell phones at the table

Be sure to watch the attached video to hear what Marianne has to say about these delicate situations.
