Aaron Hernandez Associates Indicted on Murder Charges in Lloyd's Death

(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik) - Two associates of former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez were indicted Friday on murder charges in connection with his alleged fatal shooting of a semi-professional football player last year.

A Bristol County, Mass. grand jury charged both Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace with murder connected to the June 2013 shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro, Mass.

Hernandez, a former New England Patriots player, also faces a murder charge in Lloyd’s killing.

NECN legal analyst Randy Chapman says this is bad news for Ortiz and Wallace because murder carries a prison sentence of possibly life without parole.

Chapman also believes Hernandez won't be welcoming the news either.

"Under current Massachusetts law, they (prosecutors) don't have to prove who the shooter was, or who was just there as an accessory. They just have to prove that all three shared the same mental intent to kill Odin Lloyd," Chapman said.

Both Ortiz and Wallace will now be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court. No dates have been set yet.

Hernandez is behind bars awaiting trial, and has plead not guilty to murder in Lloyd’s death.
