Be The Match: Bone Marrow Registry Saving Lives

(NECN: Kristy Lee) - Every year, more than 12,000 patients in the United Stated are diagnosed with a life-threatening blood cancer. For many, a bone marrow transplant is their only hope.

Thanks to a Stonehill College professor's life lessons, some of her students could be live-savers.

Sheila Barry encourages her students to join the bone donor’s registry called “Be The Match.”

Three members from Stonehill College were contacted as possible matches.

To be able to join the registry, you have to be between the ages of 18 – 44 and get a check swab from the inside of your mouth.
