HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — An elementary school in Hartford was hit by gunfire near a courtyard where students were participating in a gym class.
Hartford police say nobody was hurt in Monday's shooting outside the SAND Elementary School on Main Street.
Police say the shots, reported just before 2 p.m., came from a nearby altercation over a stolen moter bike and were not aimed at the students. At least three rounds struck the school building.
Police were looking for two suspects, but no arrests had been made Tuesday morning.
The school was placed in lockdown for an hour after the shooting. Students told WFSB-TV they were told to hide where nobody could find them. For up-to-the-minute news and weather, be sure to
