Fire Destroys Home, Damages Others in Billerica, Massachusetts

A fire that broke out Friday evening in Billerica, Massachusetts, only took minutes to become an inferno that destroyed one home and significantly damaged others.

A home that was under construction on Sheridan Street has been reduced to rubble after a 3-alarm fire burned it to the ground.

The flames shown in cell phone video were so ferocious, they spread quickly to the two homes on either side.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but one young girl was home alone.

"I was just so scared," said Safa Khalifa. "I didn't know what to do."

She ran outside and her father rushed home - their home only had siding damage - but their neighbors weren't as lucky.

"I feel sorry for them," said Zakir Khalifa.

Across the street, homes suffered heat damage and embers flew into nearby yards.

Families in the town are on edge - this happened one day after a car plowed into a local day care center.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
