3-Car Crash Snarls Cape Cod Traffic

A three-car crash has snarled early morning traffic on busy Route 6 on Cape Cod.

Sandwich Deputy Fire Chief John Burke tells the Cape Cod Times the crash began at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday when an eastbound car went airborne over a guardrail near Exit 2 and ended up overturned in the westbound travel lane.

Burke said rescuers spent 15 minutes removing him from his car. He was taken by helicopter to a Boston hospital in critical condition with head and neck injuries.

Part of his car hit the car of a woman who was treated and released at the scene.

Burke said two people in a sport utility vehicle were injured when that driver swerved to miss the man's car and also rolled over. They were taken to a Plymouth hospital in fair condition.
