Officials say a power boat operator is facing charges after a boat crash in Rhode Island sent three people to the hospital.
Crews responded to Bristol Harbor around 10:39 p.m. Saturday after reports of people hearing occupants of a power boat crying for help.
Gail Mastrati, of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, says the 19-foot vessel crashed into an unattended, moored sailboat.
Mastrati says three people on the boat were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with unknown injuries. She says alcohol-related charges are pending against the boat's operator.
Mastrati says DEM officials have taken custody of the boat.
