3 Weeks of Inspections at Mass. Power Plant

A team of about 20 inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission arrive Monday at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth

Federal regulators are returning to Massachusetts' only nuclear power plant for three weeks of inspections.

A team of about 20 inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission arrive Monday at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth.

Louisiana-based Entergy Corp., which operates Pilgrim, announced last year that it will close the plant for good in 2019.

Pilgrim was built in 1972 and relicensed in 2012 for an additional 20 years. It generates 680 megawatts of electricity.

The team is scheduled to brief reporters on the latest inspection Monday afternoon.
