3-Year-Old Seriously Injured in Crash

Authorities say the crash caused the high-tension power lines to break free and ignited a small fire

Police say three people have been hospitalized, including a 3-year-old girl, after the Jeep they were riding in left the road and crashed into a utility pole.

The Portland Press Herald reports authorities said 23-year-old Ashley McMullen, of Naples, was driving a 2012 Jeep Compass west on Route 302 in Casco, Maine, Thursday morning when she hit the pole and rolled the vehicle onto its side.

Her 3-year-old daughter was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland with a serious head injury. McMullen and her 7-year-old son were transported to the hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Authorities say the crash caused the high-tension power lines to break free and ignited a small fire. Passers-by extinguished the fire and helped the people.

The crash is being reconstructed by investigators.
