3rd Man Pleads Guilty in Porch Slaying

A third man charged in the death of a man who was fatally shot while standing on the porch of a Springfield, Massachusetts, home has pleaded guilty to charges.

The Republican reports
22-year-old Alex Santana of Springfield entered the plea Thursday to armed assault with intent to rob and possession of ammunition in Hampden Superior Court.

The murder charge against Santana was dropped as part of the deal. A judge accepted a recommended sentence for six to eight years in state prison.

Julio Leiva and Amadi Sosa were sentenced to life in prison this week in the November 2013 death of William Serrano.

Serrano was shot seven times while sitting on the back porch of his girlfriend's sister's house. Authorities said Serrano was dating Leiva's former girlfriend.
