3rd Vermont Man Sentenced in Marijuana Smuggling Ring

The U.S. attorney's office says a Richford, Vermont, man has been sentenced in a cross-border marijuana trafficking ring.

Jeffrey Donna was sentenced Wednesday to nearly three years in prison.

The U.S. attorney's office says Donna, and his co-conspirator, Roy "Opie" McAllister II, have been described as kingpins in the trafficking ring that started in the mid-2000s and continued until they were arrested in May 2013.

As part of the sentence, the 39-year-old Donna forfeited a second home in Florida, a Richford rental property, an SUV and an ATV, 22 guns and $135,000 in drug money.

The 39-year-old McAllister is facing sentencing on March 19.

Two other men, including a farmer, are currently serving time for their roles in the drug ring.
