4-Alarm Fire Tears Through South Weymouth Apartment Building

The cause of a four-alarm fire that tore through a vacant building in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, Thursday morning is under investigation.

The fire was inside a 3-story apartment building on Trotter Road. The Union Point complex is still under construction and had nobody living inside.

The Weymouth fire chief said the fire likely started on the second or third floor of the massive apartment building.

He said that the building is likely a total loss due to the extensive damage.

Crews from surrounding communities of Quincy, Rockland, Hull, Stoughton and Hull also responded to the scene.

There were no reported injuries. The fire chief hopes to known the cause of the fire by the end of the day Thursday.
