4 Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash in Vermont

State police say four people were killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on a highway in Vermont.

The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. on Route 22A in Bridport near the border with Shoreham. Investigators said a Volkswagen Beetle was driving north when it somehow crossed the center line and hit a Ford pickup head-on.

The driver of the Volkswagen Beetle was identified as Steven Holmes, 20, of Chatsworth, Georgia. Holmes and his passengers, Justin Hendrix, 38, of Bryceville, Florida, Amber Brewer, 19, of Dalton, Georgia, and another woman, who’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, were all killed in the crash.

The four were believed to be co-workers.

Two other adults who were in the truck were taken to UVM Medical Center in Burlington to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Route 22A was closed for over four hours, but both lanes reopened around 5 p.m.

Vermont state police are investigating the exact cause of the crash.
