7 Arrested in Brawl That Injured 2 Police Officers

Seven people are charged in an attack on two police officers trying to break up a heated group argument in New London Saturday night, police said.

Tyler Hamilton, 21, Robert Hamilton, 38, Tammy Hamilton, 38, Kaitlyne Hamilton, 22, all of New London, and three people under 18 are facing charges. The adults live together.

Police responded to investigate a large group "verbal disturbance" at 9 Blackhall Street near Belden Street at about 6:58 p.m. Saturday. The group grew hostile toward police when they confronted them, forcing officers to use a taser and cap stun to break up the fight.

Two officers sustained injuries from the altercation, police said. One was injured in the foot and the other in the hand.

The officer with the foot injury was treated at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and he's been released.

Police arrested three youths in addition to the four adults in connection to the incident.

New London police charged Tyler Hamilton and one of the juveniles with interfering with police and Robert, Tammy and Kaitlyne Hamilton and two juveniles with assault on a police officer and interfering with police.

Tyler Hamilton was released, but the other three adults were held in custody . Trobert and Tammy Hamilton's bonds were set at $10,000 and Kaitlyne Hamilton has a $5,000 bond.
