7 Ducklings Rescued From Storm Drain

There's no word on what happened to the ducklings' mother so they're being raised by a human

Seven ducklings that were rescued from a Home Depot storm drain in Rutland, Vermont, after falling through the grate are being cared for by a woman who sells flowers to the store.

Town Administrator Joseph Zingale told The Rutland Herald he heard about the ducklings last Thursday.

Rutland Town Police Captain Ted Washburn said getting into the storm catch basin wasn't as easy as it looked and he called in the fire department to aid in the rescue.

Rutland Town Fire Department Captain Dave Ricard says rescuers raised the drain's water level and they were able to scoop the ducklings out with a pool skimmer.

The procedure took about two or three hours.

There's no word on what happened to the ducklings' mother so they're being raised by a human.
