7-Year-Old Boy Speaks After Being Shot

A 7-year-old boy was full of joy and laughter Thursday, days after he was shot in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.

Divan Silva is full of laughs, energy and life - a life that could of been cut short on Sunday when he was shot in broad daylight while he was riding his bike.

"It hurts a little bit," he said Thursday.

Surveillance video captured the terrifying moments. You could see the boy's shorts instantly become bloody as he cried on the ground.

"At the time, I was telling him not to close his eyes," said Silva's mother, Dijanira DeAndrade. "He kept telling me, 'OK, Mom, OK.'"

DeAndrade says it was hard to watch her son bleeding and in pain, as he was just riding his bike to the store.

"It's right there, his grandmother's house," she said. "It's daylight, kids playing ... You never know."

Silva recovered in the hospital with the help New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Police are still searching for the shooter that left this little guy limping.

Knowing the suspect out there makes it tough for the family.

"I feel very happy with everything that happened - that he's OK, that it wasn't worse," said DeAndrade. "But my heart - I still don't feel in peace."

DeAndrade is asking for the community's help to find her baby's shooter. Thursday, police released a photo of a car seen in the area.
