73 Moose Taken in Fall Hunting Season

The overall regular season hunter success rate was 45 percent, down slightly from 47 percent last year.

The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife says hunters took 73 moose in this fall's hunting season.

Vermont moose biologist Cedric Alexander says a preliminary count showed hunters took 9 moose during the archery season, Oct. 1-7.

Alexander says that during the Oct. 15-20 regular season hunters took 64 moose, and that additional reports from this year still could come in.

The overall regular season hunter success rate was 45 percent, down slightly from 47 percent last year.

The final report on Vermont's 2016 moose season is expected in January after all the information has been received and reviewed.
