Missing 9-Year-Old Boy From Dorchester Found Safe, Father Arrested

Juan Ayala-Powell was wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting on Thursday night

A 9-year-old Dorchester boy reported missing has been found safe, and his father is now under arrest.

Boston Police said Kelvin Martins was located around 12:30 p.m. He is believed to have been the victim of a parental kidnapping. The woman who had the boy told necn that the boy's father - 27-year-old Juan Ayala-Powell - dropped him off at her house and asked if she could watch him for a couple of hours, but never came back.

Police said at 2:30 p.m. Friday that they had located and arrested Ayala-Powell, who was wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting around 11:39 p.m. Thursday on Blue Hill Avenue.

A male victim in his early twenties was transported to Boston Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Ayala-Powell was seen fleeing the area in a green 2004 Ford Explorer, and it is believed Kelvin was in the vehicle at the time.
