900 Animals to Be Removed From Farm Amid Cruelty Investigation

Town officials have been facing backlash for a lack of action against the farm

The remaining 900 animals left on a Westport, Massachusetts, farm at the center of the largest animal cruelty investigation in the northeast will be removed from the property.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says a shelter will be created for the animals.

During a search earlier this month, police found three goats that had to be euthanized, dead sheep and several other sick or injured farm animals in "deplorable conditions."

A similar incident happened on the same farm in 2010.

Town officials have been facing backlash for a lack of action against the farm.
