A MA. Woman is Arrested for Animal Cruelty

A Massachusetts woman is arrested for leaving her dog unattended inside a locked truck with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off at a rest area in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, just before 3 p.m. on Friday, troopers responded to the Hooksett Rest area for complaints of a chocolate lab locked inside a Ford SUV.

A witness estimated the dog had been left in the vehicle for 30 to 40 minutes.  The temperature was over 95 degrees at the time.

An initial search for the dog's owner was unsuccessful while the dog was visibly in distress.  Troopers were forced use an unlocking tool to get inside the car and successfully rescued the lab, named Breelyn.

The owner, Amy Rose, 41 of North Dighton, MA was eventually located and charged.  She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in court on August 30, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
