AG's Office Investigating Police Shooting

The Massachusetts Attorney General's Office plans to investigate the fatal police shooting of a man who prosecutors say was shot after pointing a realistic looking BB gun at authorities.

The Boston Globe reports that Attorney General Maura Healey's office will investigate the shooting because of close relationships between the Brockton police and members of the Plymouth District Attorney's Office.

The Plymouth District Attorney's Office says two Brockton officers shot 45-year-old Douglas Buckley early Thursday after he pulled a BB gun, which had been hidden behind his back.

Buckley's wife, Barbara Buckley, said later Thursday that she informed police before her husband was killed that the only weapons in her home were BB guns.

A spokeswoman for Healey's office says it will investigate the incident "thoroughly, independently and transparently."
