Accumulating Snow for Some Precedes Arctic Air for All

Look out for dangerous wind chills this weekend.

Sunshine gives way to increasing clouds today ahead of an energetic disturbance that will lead to snow from 10 p.m. onward on Cape Cod, the Islands, and overnight in southeast Massachusetts, with 2 to 4 inches of Cape accumulation by Saturday morning.

Elsewhere, an arctic front crossing New England Saturday early morning will bring snow showers to start the day, with one to two inches of accumulation in a few communities hit hardest. But those snow showers exit early Saturday, for an increasing wind and arctic cold with dry weather but dangerous wind chills, especially Saturday night.

The exception to a drying forecast will be midcoast to central Maine, where a localized band of heavy snow will linger most of Saturday, dropping double digit snow near Penobscot Bay!

Cold and wind persists Sunday, with sunshine and perhaps some early ocean effect snow showers on Cape Cod. Then, it's a chilly start to next week before our storm Tuesday.

That storm starts as mixed precipitation for many overnight Monday night into early Tuesday, but later changes to rain for most.

Tuesday's storm leads the way to milder times for the middle and end of next week, with 40s expected for highs next weekend - a far cry from this one!
