Man Escapes, 3 Arrested in Maine Motel Police Standoff

Three people have been arrested and a man is being sought in connection to a police standoff at a Maine motel Tuesday morning, which led to the motel and surrounding cabins being evacuated.

Saco Deputy Police Chief Jack Clements said a woman surrendered to police earlier in the morning, while a man and woman had to be removed using force later on and another person escaped through a window at the Brookside Motel on Ocean Park Road, according to WCSH.

Investigators are searching the motel room for weapons, and a handgun was found outside the window the person escaped through.

The three people who were arrested had warrants against them, police said; however, their names have not been released.

Clements said the investigation revealed no one was being held against their will and it's unknown why the accused refused to leave the room.

The investigation is ongoing.
