Additional Cat, Dog Remains Found in Squalid Home

Blackstone, Mass. Town Administrator Daniel Keyes says clean-up is taking days because the conditions are worst than crews originally anticipated

Additional cat and dog remains have been found in the Blackstone, Massachusetts, home where three infants were found dead earlier this week.

Blackstone Town Administrator Daniel Keyes says clean-up is taking days because the conditions are worst than crews originally anticipated.

So far, aftermath hazmat crews have gone through the first two rooms on the second floor of the home. This is where they found the remains of one cat and one dog Sunday.

Crews have now moved onto the drywall of the home, Keyes confirmed.

The remains of three infants, as well as the remains of many cats and a dog were found during the investigation on Wednesday and Thursday.

Erika Murray, 31, is currently the only person charged in the case. She was arrested Thursday night after detectives investigating a case of reckless endangerment of children found the bodies of three infants at the home infested with vermin and littered with soiled diapers.

Four other children, ages 13, 10, 3 and 6 months old, were removed from the house on Aug. 28 after a neighbor notified police about their living conditions.

Blackstone residents have organized a vigil at the nearby school. It is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday night.
