All-Time Highest Number of Registered Voters in Vt.

Secretary of State Jim Condos says that could mean a high turnout for the presidential and state elections on Tuesday

Vermont's secretary of state says the number of registered voters in the state is at its highest level ever.

Secretary of State Jim Condos says that could mean a high turnout for the presidential and state elections on Tuesday. He says so far, 10 percent of voters have cast their ballots early.

Condos tells The Barre-Montpelier Times Argus there were 465,483 registered voters as of Monday evening, up from about 462,000 in 2014. The deadline to register is by 5 p.m. Wednesday and Condos says the number of registered voters is expected to grow until then.

Condos also says he's confident in the steps that the state has taken to protect the election process against voter fraud.
