The stores are essentially tech kiosks, where consumers can buy Kindles, Echos and other devices from Amazon’s line of electronic products. Amazon already has popup stores in 13 states.
Amazon customers who have taken their business away from brick-and-mortar shops might like the idea of getting to test the electronics ahead of time, and Prime members will get to take advantage of the same deals online, as in the store.
Amazon has not yet announced when the local popup store will open, but started taking job applications in September.
The company will also start hiring seasonal workers at the Wallingford and Windsor fulfillment centers. It will add 120,000 jobs nationwide during the holidays, up 20 percent from 2015.po
