A 13-year-old West Haven girl who was reported missing has been found and she is safe.
Alexis Otero was missing since 4 p.m. Monday and police said Tuesday afternoon that she has been found.
West Haven police initially called this an Amber Alert, but later said it is a Silver Alert. State police also said it's a Silver Alert.
An Amber Alert cannot be declared at the local level and the missing child notifications must meet federally-set guidelines, according to officials.
"When you hear Amber Alert, that should trigger in your mind that there is an abduction or somebody is at risk of serious physical injury to their lives,"
Trooper Kelly Grant, of Connecticut State Police, said.
Amber Alerts generally aren't issued for children who might have run away or are not considered to be in harm's way.
