Andover Updates Residents On Claims, Gas Restoration Process

The town of Andover offered an update Saturday on the claims process for residents affected by last week's series of gas explosions.

A statement from town officials said that Columbia Gas has agreed to compensate all customers for losses related to the explosions, including: bodily injury, property damage, loss of business, disruption of everday activities due to loss of gas service, and other related matters.

In order to begin the claims process, residents should call the 24-hour claims hotline at 1-800-590-5571.

The statement also updated residents on the process of gas service restoration. It is scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 26, when crews will visit all homes and businesses in the area to conduct assassments. Columbia Gas has told the Town of Andover that residents and business owners will be given 48-hours notice prior to crews arriving to do the assessment.

Also Saturday, Andover officials handed out 700 free hot plates to residents coping with the effects of the explosions.

Hot plate distribution will continue on Sunday from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. in front of the Town Offices, the statement read.
