Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of Popular Horse

Quinton Clayton was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing the quarter horse, “Bunny.”

An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a popular horse in Barre, Vermont.

Quinton Clayton was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing the quarter horse, “Bunny.”

Police responded to a call on Prospect Street three weeks ago where they found the horse dead. Bunny was a well-known fixture among the local equestrian community; the loss was mourned by many.

After further investigation, officers have found the bow and arrow they believe killed Bunny were reported stolen the day of the shooting. One of the arrows was recovered at the scene, and the bow was later found at a residence in Barre City.

Clayton previously had outstanding warrants for failing to appear in violation of conditions of release, selling drugs to a minor on school property, and damaging property after leaving the scene of an accident.

He has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and unlawful mischief. Bail is set for $300.00.
