A 22-year-old Uncasville woman was killed when her car hit a rock wall and a guardrail on Route 2 in Colchester late Wednesday night and burst into flames, according to state police.
Stephanie Jones was driving a 2010 Mercedes GLK when she went off the road at a curve just before exit 16 and hit a rock wall, then went back on the highway, crossed all three lanes and hit a guard rail. according to state police.
When the car hit the guardrail, it caught fire and Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The crash was reported at 11:43 p.m. and the road was closed for several hours.
Police said they are investigating.
