Authorities Ask for Public's Help in Solving 2011 Double Homcide

Authorities in Massachusetts say they've interviewed 50 people and followed leads in four different states, but what led to John and Geraldine Magee's gruesome murder remains a mystery.

Four years ago next week, Jeri and Jack Magee, as they were known by family and friends, were found dead in their Andover home.

Monday morning, authorities revisited the case in hopes of developing new leads.

According to Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett, on the day before his death, 69-year-old Jack Magee, a contractor, visited a construction site in Reading.

He returned home that afternoon to Andover where his 67-year-old wife had made plans to watch their grandchild the next day, so her daughter could go Christmas shopping.

Her son was in the construction business with his father and left the home around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Around 9:15 the next morning, Andover police were called to the house when their daughter discovered the Magee's bodies.

"At the time of the murders, the circumstances were such that we believed there was no further threat for public safety and we believe that this is still the case," Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said.

The couple's Lexus SUV was taken from the house at the time of the killings. It was later found burning in Boston's North End.

The D.A. declined to say if there were suspects or if they had a motive.

"The information we have is known to us and the perpetrators will not be made public until we've effectuated an arrest," Blodgett said.

The couple's children and family have been working with police.

In a statement, they said, "We miss Jeri and Jack very much and not a day goes by without us thinking how blessed we were to have them in our lives. But the perpetrators of this crime are still out there and they need to be brought to justice."
