Bear Cubs Orphaned By Hunter in New Hampshire

A popular attraction in New Hampshire is down one of its stars after a hunter killed a mama bear last week.

Four cubs, which were known to be part of the "Jackson 5," are still around, and state Fish and Game officials have no plans to trap or relocate them, according to The Conway Daily Sun.

It is not against the law to shoot a bear with cubs.

"We ask hunters to pass on females with cubs -- some hunters do, and some hunters don't," Andy Timmins, bear biologist for Fish and Game tells the newspaper.

Jackson Police Chief Doug Jette says there have been sightings of the cubs by residents over the past week.
