The 7-year-old Hardwick, Massachusetts, boy who was starved and beaten and put into a coma, allegedly by his own father, opened his eyes briefly, but still remains in a coma.

According to the "Justice For JACK Loiselle" Facebook page, Jack Loiselle’s mother, Amber Lyn Loiselle said Jack opened his eyes twice over the weekend and is now breathing on his own.

When Jack was hospitalized on July 14, he weighed just 38.5 pounds.

Jack’s father, Randall Lints, is being held without bail on charges of assault and endangerment. Lints has had full custody of Jack for the past year.

He will appear in court on Wednesday.

The DCF confirms that the family had received services since February of this year.

However, the social worker handling the case was not yet licensed by the state.
