Belichick Mum on Allegations Gill Altered Fanene Treatment

The report says a team doctor altered Jonathan Fanene's medical treatment to force the player to return a $3.85 million signing bonus

The Washington Post published a report Thursday saying that former New England Patriots team doctor Thomas Gill altered a player's medical treatment in 2012 to force that player to return a $3.85 million signing bonus.

The Patriots and the player, defensive lineman Jonathan Fanene, eventually reached a settlement. Gill has denied the allegations contained in the Washington Post story.

When Patriots Coach Bill Belichick was asked about the report Friday, he said only, "That case has been over for a long time."
