Bella Bond's Father Working on Funeral Arrangements

Joe Amoroso, Bella Bond's biological father, says he's working on funeral plans for his daughter, despite her body still being held at the Massachusetts State Medical Examiner's office.

"It only feels right to have Bella buried with her family," he said.

He tells necn he's planning to bury Bella with her great-grandmother in a Winthrop cemetery, and believes the day her body was discovered on Deer Island is no coincidence.

"Bella's body was washed up on Deer Island on June 25, which is my grandmother's birthday. Winthrop, Mass. is where the Amoroso family grew up, it is where we were all raised. Bella made it home to her family," Amoroso said.

In a candlelight vigil Monday night, the Winthrop town manager also spoke about burial plans.

He said the "baby is now going to stay in Winthrop forever."

Town Officals, and many others, have offered their help and support for both the funeral and burial.

Amoroso also says he'd like the pastor from his church, the East Coast International Church in Lynn, to lead the funeral.

He thanks everyone who helped try to identify Bella when she was only known as "Baby Doe."

"I feel very grateful, very thankful to know there's a good part of humanity that's still out there."

Amoroso says he never had a chance to meet Bella.

He left her mother when she was pregnant, and only spoke to Bella on the phone, but he says he recently moved back to Massachusetts and was hoping to start a relationship with his child.

"I'm my heart I feel that Bella is home in heaven where God brought her home."

Amoroso plans to make her wake and funeral public.
