Bella Bond's Body Released, Funeral Date Set

The body of a 2-year-old girl dubbed "Baby Doe" after her remains were found in a plastic bag on a Boston Harbor beach has been released to her father.

Joseph Amoroso is planning a private funeral and burial for Bella Bond. Amoroso said the child will be buried with her paternal great-grandmother in a Winthrop, Massachusetts, cemetery.

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11a.m. at 147 Winthrop Street, Ernest Caggiano & Son Funeral Home confirmed Saturday. The burial will take place following the funeral

Amoroso never met Bella but talked to her on the telephone a few times.

Bella went unidentified for three months after her remains washed up in June on Deer Island. Authorities learned her name in September when a tip led them to Bella's mother, Rachelle Bond, and her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy.

McCarthy is charged with murder. Bond is charged with being an accessory after the fact. Both have pleaded not guilty.
