A 14-year-old Vermont boy was killed Friday when the bike he was riding was hit by an SUV.

Vermont State Police said Christian Regan, 14, of Swanton, was riding his bicycle on Route 7 north of Highgate Village at about 5:15 p.m. when he was struck. He died at the scene.

Police identified the driver of the SUV as Gage Bouchard, 22, of Highgate.

Investigators said Bouchard and Regan were both traveling north on Route 7 when Bouchard struck the teen with the passenger side of his 2002 Ford Escape.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, police noted. The stretch of roadway was closed during the initial portion of the investigation, but has since reopened.

The investigation is still ongoing, and Vermont State Police would anyone with information to call the St. Albans barracks at 802-524-5993.
