Bicyclist in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run in Taunton, Massachusetts

A man is still in critical condition after being hit and dragged by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Massachusetts, and police say they've found the suspect's vehicle, but not the suspect.

Taunton police say 36-year-old Michael Alfano of Taunton was found lying in the road on Washington Street and Broadway Thursday evening.

He was taken to Morton Hospital, where he was then flown to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston via a medical helicopter.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police say officers were able to determine Alfano was on a bike in a crosswalk on Washington Street when he had been hit and dragged by a vehicle.

Alfano's bicycle was dragged down Washington Street after he was thrown from it, and officers were able to find it in the wood line on Park Street.

The vehicle involved in the crash, a 2010 Toyota Venza belonging to a Bridgewater resident, was also found on Park Street, locked and unattended.

No other details were immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
