Black Friday marks the official start to the holiday shopping season. Stores are swamped with shoppers trying to score the best of deals.
The South Shore Plaza in Braintree, Massachusetts, opened it's door for shopping at 12:30 a.m. and there's been a steady flow of folks popping in and out of the many stores there.
"I think it's much heavier than last year," said Vicki Bartkiewicz when asked about the amount of shoppers. "It sustained itself through the early morning."
Bartkiewicz says the wintry weather in no way deterred shoppers. The customers at the mall are just happy to kick off the holiday season.
Utilizing the Simon Malls mobile application can yield huge savings, Bartkiewicz added.
Stores are making up the difference in price this year if an item is found for cheaper online.
A heavy flow of shoppers is expected to keep up throughout the day.
