Blood Drives, Other Events Planned for ‘Meet a Muslim Day'

Muslim youths in Massachusetts and other states are taking to the streets to answer questions about Islam and dispel misconceptions.

Blood drives are scheduled for Saturday afternoon on Boston's Copley Square and in downtown Fitchburg as part of a national outreach known as ``Meet a Muslim Day.''

It's the second year Islamic community leaders have organized the initiative. Organizers say events are planned in 80 locations around the U.S.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association president Bilal Rana says young adherents will stand in public squares holding signs that read: ``Meet a Muslim'' or ``I'm a Muslim, ask me anything.''

Rana says the hope is to start conversations that can help clear up false perceptions about Islam.
