Blue Line Service Resumes After Disruption Due to Fire Department Activity

The problem appears to be a disabled train

Shuttle buses temporarily replaced Blue Line service between the Airport and Bowdoin stations on Friday morning due to fire department activity at the Bowdoin station.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said a Blue Line train headed toward Bowdoin Station became disabled around 9:40 a.m. The cause remains under investigation, but it appears to have been "a vehicle and signal issue."

The MBTA said two people were safely escorted off the train and out of the tunnel.

Buses temporarily replaced Blue Line service from Airport Station to Bowdoin Station. The Blue Line resumed service around 1 p.m.

Later Friday afternoon, the MBTA warned customers of upcoming service changes. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, there will be normal train service between State and Wonderland stations only until the end of service. Officials recommend customers use the Government Center shuttle for service beyond State station.
