Boil Water Order Lifted After E. Coli Contamination

Fecal coliform was found in water supply in Wellesley, Mass., where order has been in effect since Thursday

A boil water order has been lifted in Wellesley, Massachusetts, after being in effect for two days after E. coli was found.

The warning was issued after the contamination was discovered Thursday morning.

Residents were alerted by phone, email and Twitter. A message was also posted on the town's website and on message boards in town.

Officials with Wellesley Department of Public Works confirmed Friday afternoon that the first test had come back clean, but another round of testing would be performed to ensure safety.

Wellesley Police remind residents to flush all sources of tap water in their homes to clear any contaminated water from their plumbing systems.
