Police searched a high school and middle school in Bedford, NH (Published Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014)

Police in Bedford, New Hampshire, say nothing was found after they searched a high school and middle school complex that canceled classes because of a bomb threat.

Bedford Police Chief John Byfonski says a school administrator received the threat at about 6 a.m. Tuesday. He declined to say how the threat was communicated. WMUR-TV reports police said shortly after noon that nothing was found.

The chief said New Hampshire investigators worked with police in Bedford, Massachusetts, where a similar threat was communicated to school officials. The Massachusetts high school was evacuated.

In New Hampshire, high school principal Bill Hagen said it was likely a "very bad hoax," but added the schools were closed out of an abundance of caution.

Byfonski said the schools constitute a very large complex.
