Boston Awaits Grand Jury Decision on Ferguson

Churchgoers in the city's Roxbury neighborhood were among many people in the nation Sunday waiting to see whether Darren Wilson will be charged in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Michael Brown.

As a grand jury decides whether to indict Darren Wilson for the shooting death of unarmed black teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, churchgoers in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood were among many in the nation Sunday waiting to see the ramifications.

The initial shooting sparked violent clashes in Ferguson - with some worried it could happen again.

Dr. Arthur Gerald Junior is head of Boston's Black Ministerial Alliance and pastor at the Twelfth Baptist Church, the place where Martin Luther King Jr. preached during his studies at Boston University.

The pastor says Ferguson shows that race remains difficult issue in this country.

"Even after the issues of the 60s and even into the 60s, we must remain vigilant. We must remain faithful," he said.

Few members of this historic parish will predict what might happen in Missouri. For now, they say they're leaving it up to law and God.

Some Boston churches, including Twelfth Baptist, will open their doors after a decision is reached so that people have a forum to talk about it.
