Boston-Bound Train Derails in Maine

No injuries were reported when a Downeaster train derailed while traveling from Portland to Boston Tuesday afternoon

No injuries were reported when an Amtrak Downeaster train derailed while traveling from Portland, Maine, to Boston Tuesday afternoon, according to necn affiliate WCSH.

The train left Portland at 2:20 p.m. and derailed just a few miles away. The train's trip to Boston has been cancelled, along with a few other trains that were scheduled to follow.

Officials say 41 people were on board. Frustrated passengers were taken back to Portland and were given the option to catch a bus to Boston.

Investigators have not released a cause.
