    The Boston-based Coast Guard Cutter Seneca seized 4.6 tons of cocaine during a 68-day deployment to the Pacific Ocean.

    A Boston-based U.S. Coast Guard cutter seized 4.6 tons of cocaine worth $154 million dollars during a recent 68-day deployment to the Pacific Ocean.

    The cutter Seneca is scheduled to return to its homeport in Boston on Saturday. During it's deployment, it traversed the Panama Canal and intercepted five smuggling vessels carrying cocaine from South America bound for the United States.

    In addition to the drugs seized, 15 suspected drug traffickers were apprehended as part of the operation.

    This was the Seneca's third deployment to the Pacific in the past year.
